50 Cent- “Get Up”

7 10 2008

First single off of Before I Self Destruct.

Judging by this single, he SHOULD SELF DESTRUCT before he puts out another shitty album. Even though dude puts out some serious bullshit nowadays, Get Rich Or Die Tryin stays getting played in the whip.

“Love Lockdown” Exclusive Video

7 10 2008

Really Kanye? I understand you are trying to be different, but putting out a garbage, boring song with your terrible singing voice on it over an equally boring music video does not necessarily do good things for your career/image. Now, Mayer can testify for me that I WAS a huge kanye fan. I saw dude on his first stop on his first tour (college dropout tour) where dame dash presented dude with a Gold record. At that point, we only knew John Legend as the dude who was smoking a cigarette with some homie outside while texting on the new sidekick. Back then, Kanye was fresh. Today, Kanye is about as unfresh as timbs with shorts in the summertime.

ROMP IN PEACE

STS9- Peaceblaster

3 10 2008

Self-described as a”Santa Cruz-based, 5-piece electronic jam band fusing live instruments with ” electronica”,” Sound Tribe Sector 9, or STS9 to fans, is better described as “a trip.” I first heard about STS9 from Mayer who would hit me up just to tell me he was “at the best concert ever, fool.” While I will most probably never get to experience this group live at Red Rocks like Mayer has done 5 times in the past, I have gone on a binge-listening run and I cannot get enough of this incredible band. Their songs feature influences from all different genres and most lack vocals (which is refreshing). The best part of STS9 is the subtle sounds and FX that they put in and on their songs. Just last night I was talking to the library bumpin their debut album “Artifact” and I kept hearing footsteps to the right and left of me. After minutes of looking around for the footsteps like a paranoid girl from the suburbs, I realized the footsteps were coming from song. They were so well placed and layered into the beat that they sounded natural, and unbound to the track . This shit is really a musical rollercoaster ride. Shout out to all the homies at Boulder that swear by this group, good looks. As for ya’ll, remember that these fools are not the mainstream bullshit you’re used to, if you like it and want more, BUY IT.

B.B. Kings (Jahizzi and Lampert)- At The Sun

1 10 2008

Yo, ya’ll might not know, but Jahizzi a.k.a myself has been rappin for like 6 years now and I like to think of myself as being pretty good at it. I’m part of a group called “Divine Rhyme” with Sir Sheck. Dude hails from Philly and is pretty nice with it. We’ve opened for the Cool Kids, Blu, and Kidz in the Hall. It’s a pretty good resume for some unknown, unsigned dudes that never get paid. My homie Kyle Lampert a.k.a Lemmiwinks has been helpin us produce and record and for that we are incredibly greatful. Anyways, Lemmy and I decided that we should try this little side project called the B.B. Kings, for Blunts and Blues Kings. Dude blacks out on the guitar on the regular so i figured we should combine forces and create some different sounding shit. So far we have a couple tracks in the kitchen but we figured this one is ready for the masses. Peep this shit and if you like it, tell your friends! Oh yeah, if you don’t like it, talk as much shit as you want. All press is good press baby.
